Fred Wilson, 58, of Clearfield died Aug. 2, 2012, at his home after an illness.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, at the United Baptist Presbyterian Church in Mount Ayr. The Rev. Alan Rusk officiated. Burial was in Clearfield Cemetery. Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr, was in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund has been established in his name to be decided later. Fred Wilson, son of Vida Leonard and John Randall Wilson, was born July 25, 1954, in Creston.
Fred attended school at Clearfield and graduated in 1972. He went to Iowa State University and graduated in 1976 with a degree in farm op.
Fred then farmed in a corporation with his brothers and operated a tiling machine.
After marrying Lisa Round in 1983, they lived south of Lenox for four years. Fred then started to farm with his father-in-law Don Round and continued to run his tiling machine.
In 1988, they moved south of Clearfield where they have since resided.
Fred was a member of Clearfield Volunteer Fire Department, Land Improvement Contractors Association, Taygold Cooperative Board, Clearfield Lions, pastor-parish committee of the Clearfield United Methodist Church, Scout master and currently a member of the Ringgold County Hospital Board of Trustees and Mount Ayr United Methodist Church.
Fred is survived by his wife Lisa Wilson of Clearfield; son Dr. Bradley (Dr. Nicole) Wilson of West Des Moines; daughters, Debra (Ben) Johns of Indianola and Cacey and Kylie Wilson of Clearfield; grandchildren, Ethan and Kaitlyn Johns and Reagan Wilson; sisters, Gayle Rhea (Marlyn) Hawley of Independence, Mo., and Louise (David) Ellis of Fairfield; brothers, Doyle (Linda) Wilson of Boone, John (Pat) Wilson and Wayne (Carolyn) Wilson, all of Clearfield, Haldean (Cheryl) Wilson of Indianola and Jim (Donna) Wilson of Evansville, Wis.; mother-in-law Maxine Round of Mount Ayr; sister-in-law Gina Shiflett of Savannah, Mo.; uncle Kenneth Halm of Thayer; and aunt Berneeta Austin of Mount Ayr.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law Don Round; grandparents; younger brother Richard Lee; aunt Leveta Halm and niece Diana Ellis.
