Leona B. Mclntire, 103, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of the Kent area, died May 1, 2012, at Rainbow Adult Care Center in Tucson, Ariz.

Memorial services will be held at a later date with burial in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Adair Funeral Home of Tucson, Ariz., is in charge of arrangements.

Leona Beatrice (Reed) Mclntire, daughter of Elizabeth (Johnson) and Frank Reed, was born
March 14, 1909, near Orient. She attended and graduated from Orient Schools.

Leona married Neil Mclntire in rural Iowa. They farmed in the Kent area, where they raised
their family.

Leona began her teaching career in Spaulding Township and taught school in various communities.

Neil and Leona retired from farming and moved to Colorado in early 1963. Leona worked in the banking and real estate fields in Boulder, Colo. In 1972, she moved to Tucson, Ariz., where she continued her work in real estate administration until the age of 85, when she retired.

Leona was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Tucson, Ariz. She was also a member
of numerous professional organizations in the banking and real estate fields.

Leona is survived by her sons, Dean (wife Dorothy) Mclntire of Creston and Dr. Robert Mclntire of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Barbara (husband Mike) Gallagher of Lucas, Patti (husband Keith) Blevins of Creston, Roger (wife Michelle) Mclntire of Afton, Kenny (wife Barbara) Mclntire of Chino Valley, Ariz., and Monty (wife Roxann) Mclntire of Afton; nine great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren; sister Mabel Lair of Dunlap, Ill.; nieces, nephews, friends; and caregivers, Emi and Ali Insanic of Tucson, Ariz.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1963; brother Clyde Reed; sisters-in-law, Bessie Reed and Mildred Reed; brother-in-law James Lair; and great-grandson Caleb Mclntire.
