SHENANDOAH — Corning’s Josh Winkler won the high jump for the second meet in a row, and set a new personal best in the process at the Mustang Relays here Tuesday.

Winkler cleared six feet to take the victory. Clarinda’s Brandon Sweet finished second at 5-10.

Corning’s only other point-scorer in the meet was Jeremy Loghry, who finished in a tie for fifth place at 43-02, which was also a personal best for him.

The Red Raiders finished 12th with 11.50 points.

“We ran into some very good competition and found it tough to score many points,” Corning head coach Allen Naugle said. “Overall we didn’t place many, but we continued to cut times. Our 4x800 team ran its fastest time of the year, our shuttle hurdle ran its fastest time of the year, Garrett Seals ran his two fastest 800 times of the year, Nick Spring and William Roberts both ran their fastest 200 times of the year and Keegan Longabaugh threw his farthest shot put throw of the year. We have a very young team that continues to work hard. As long as we are continuing to cut times and improve in each event, we will continue to reach our goals.”

Corning travels to Clarke today.

Lenox also competed in the meet, but did not score any points.
