Area schools in close competition at East Union Girls Invitational

AFTON — Villisca ran away with the team title at the East Union Girls Invitational here Tuesday, while Nodaway Valley edged out Murray for third place 60-59. East Union finished in sixth place with 44 points, four points better than both Lenox and Melcher-Dallas.

Kate Patton won the 400 meter dash for Murray, clocking a 1:02.24. Katie Dukes of Lenox was third in 1:03.68.

East Union junior Dusti Carlisle won the high jump with a jump of 4-06.

Murray’s 4x200 relay team of Hannah Barber, Monissa McNeal, Megan Oswald and Summer Glasener took first place in a time of 2:03.52.

The Nodaway Valley 4x800 relay team of Julie Bricker, Robyn Kincaide, Corrine Jones and Kysa Downing won the event with a time of 11:59.75.

Lenox’s sprint medley relay team of Katie Barker, Blythe Beck, Aurora Aravelo and Katie Dukes won with a time of 2:03.28.
