Jerry Gist, 70, of Creston died April 8, 2012, at Greater Regional Hospice Home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25. Mary O'Riley will officiate the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Open visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Jerry Dean Gist, son of Revera M. (Trenary) and Kenneth James Gist, was born July 2, 1941, in Gilmore City.

Jerry attended Swea City High School near Bancroft.

On June 9, 1973, Jerry married Carol Ann Metzger in Greenfield. They spent 20 years in the Britt and Algona area.

He worked construction for Herman Bunn Construction. Then for Universal Ford, where he remanufactured car engines and also drove a truck for Allied Affiliated, that was affiliated with Universal Ford. Later he worked for Victor Edwards for eight years. Jerry also hauled rock for Schilberg’s Construction of Greenfield.

Around 1992, they moved to Creston, where they currently resided.

Jerry is survived by his wife Carol; daughters, Gina Gist of Florida and Sheri Ann Gist of Creston; sons, Andy Dean (wife Julie) Gist of Creston and Richard (wife Angela) Gist of Illinois; sister Jody Lynn Gist of Algona; and grandchildren, Kendrick and Issac Davis, Rhodey and Faith Fetcher, and Tyler, Logan, Christian, Caitlyn, Evan and Cory Gist.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Heidi Ann at 1 year old; and sister JoAnn Gist.
