Schildberg Construction awarded for safety

GREENFIELD — Schildberg Construction Company of Greenfield employees have been honored for working the entire year of 2011 without a lost-time accident.

The employees operating in the Wash Plant No. 1, Denny Parkis; Rip Rap No. 4, Chris Auen; Rip Rap No. 3, Denny Parkis; Rip Rap No. 2, Denny Parkis; Rip Rap No. 1, Mike Hopkins; Atlantic Shop, Curt Wright; Central Shop, Scott Armstrong; Stripping No. 5, Wes Booth; Stripping No. 4, Aaron Greenwalt; Stripping No. 3, Seth Wise; Stripping Crew, Larry Vowell; Plant No. 9, Daryl Newbury; Plant No. 2, Dave Sickles; and Plant No. 1, Jerry Funke were recognized at Iowa Limestone Producers Association’s 67th annual convention recently held in Iowa City. Iowa Limestone Producers Association sponsors a safety contest each year to give recognition to those member companies and employees who strive, as part of their everyday activities, to work safely. This increased emphasis on safety has been a major factor in changing quarry work from a dangerous occupation, to where it is one of the safest places to be employed in Iowa.
