David Crago, 69, of Afton, died Feb. 1, 2012, on his farm from injuries sustained in a tractor accident.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Afton. Burial will be in St. Edward Cemetery in Afton with military graveside rites to be conducted by John B. Parks Post No. 8882, VFW in Afton. Open visitation will be noon to 5 p.m. Sunday with the family present 3 to 5 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, 612 N. Dodge St., in Afton. Memorials may be directed to St. Edwards Catholic Cemetery in Afton.
David Adams Crago, son of Irene Ellen (Adams) and Harry Estep Crago was born Aug. 2, 1942, in Diagonal.
David was educated in Oregon, Council Bluffs and Shannon City schools. He served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963.
David married Mary Marlene Weinkoetz May 7, 1966, in Afton. They settled in the Afton area and farmed all of their married life. He also milked dairy cows for many years.
Divid worked for Farmers Coop in Afton and Hills-Mechana and later at Wellman Dynamics, Farley’s and Sathers and Iowa Select. He retired from farming in 2007.
David was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Afton.
David is survived by his daughter Kimberly (husband Mark) Bunker of Creston; son Darrin Crago (friend Lisa Fry) of Afton; five grandchildren, Brandon and Brittney Bunker, Jenna, Jeremiah and Justy Crago; brother-in-law Don Roche of Wymore, Neb., and sister-in-law Judy Weinkoetz of Afton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 2006, siste Marilyn Roche and brother-in-law Joe Weinkoetz.
