Freshman and sophomore FFA members attended a 212º leadership conference Jan. 7. People may ask: what does 212º have to do with leadership? Water boils at 212º, and boiling water is active and makes a difference; below the temperature sits idle. From this conference, members experienced ways to boil up their leadership by getting involved in FFA activities and becoming a leader in the Creston chapter.
Growing as an individual, group member and community member is an important concept FFA stresses to its members. Attendees of the conference took part in break-out sessions that helped them learn about growing as a person through personal, mental, emotional, physical , social and life-long growth.
“212º conference was a blast and I learned a lot about myself and others,” said sophomore member Taylor Gibson.
The conference was not just a way for members to learn, but also an opportunity for them to have fun and meet others from across the state.
“It was so much fun meeting new people at the conference. I made some new friends and hope to see them at more FFA activities,” said Brooke Thelen, freshman FFA member.
Through the FFA program, members make life-long friendships in the chapter, as well as from across the state. Such relationships and friendships are important for FFA members’ future.
