Shirley Kleckner, 75, of Creston died Jan. 14, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25. The Rev. Tom Woodin will officiate. Burial will be in Gus Cemetery, southwest of Corning. Open visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are to be established in her name. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Shirley Ann Kleckner, daughter of Elsie Irene (Ridnour) and Noble Ira Fearnot, was born Sept. 26, 1936, in Conway.

Shirley was educated in Bedford Schools.

On Dec. 17, 1955, Shirley married John Wesley Murren in Clarinda. They settled in the Bedford area, where she worked as a farmwife and homemaker.

She later worked at Thogmartin Custodial Home and Bedford Country Club.

Shirley and John later divorced.

Shirley moved to Creston in 1973, where she worked for various restaurants.

On Nov. 28, 1978, Shirley married William Earl Kleckner in Bedford. They later divorced.

On April 21, 1987, Shirley opened her own restaurant, S&K Café. She retired in 1997.

Shirley was a former member of Union County Saddle Club.

Shirley is survived by her daughter Karen (husband Chuck) Johnson of Lenox; sons, Michael (wife Jerri) Murren of Nevinville and Duane (Billi Vavra) Murren of Lenox; grandchildren, Jeremiah and Jenifer Johnson, Tara (husband Dusty) Lawrence, Noble Murren and Abby and Will Vavra; great-granddaughters, Hallie Claiser and Jovie Lawrence; brother Dale Fearnot of Kenesaw, Neb.; and sisters, Phyllis Abell of Larkspur, Colo., Gale (husband John) Miller of Osceola and Beverly (husband Marion) Hargin of Creston.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; son Charles Stanley Murren in infancy; brother Bill Fearnot; sister Alberta Fearnot in infancy; niece Pam Stroup; brother-in-law Joe Abell and sister-in-law Pauline Fearnot.
