DeBruce operating under new name: Gavilon Grain LLC

Last year, DeBruce Grain of Creston signed a “definitive agreement” and merged with one of the country’s leading commodity-management firms, The Gavilon Group.

Wednesday, DeBruce Grain officials announced another change. Effective immediately, DeBruce will change its name to Gavilon in all forms including its grain, feed, fertilizer and agriculture service departments.

“The only thing that’s changing is the name,” said Dean Michaelson, location manager for DeBruce Grain (now Gavilon Grain, LLC) in Creston. “We merged with Gavilon about one year ago, and we recently announced our change in name to make us one recognizable company.”

Michaelson confirmed all personnel and operations will remain the same under the Gavilon name. No jobs will be lost, and customers will see few, if any, changes in day-to-day interactions.

Background

The Creston facility was acquired by DeBruce in 2002. The Creston facility handles corn, soybeans and non-GMO soybeans. Creston provides grain for local sales and export to Mexico.

Gavilon, LLC is headquartered in Omaha, Neb., and has a 134-year history in commodity management, connecting producers to consumers of feed, food and fuel through global supply. Currently, DeBruce has 23 grain facilities while Gavilon totals 88. However, the two companies handle nearly the same amount of grain.

Identifying and leveraging best practices will enable us to aggressively compete as one of the leading commodity-management firms and the third-largest grain storage network in the U.S., while enhancing the services we provide our customers and suppliers.”
