Alberta Jean Vetterick Bennett, 86, of Creston died Dec. 20, 2011, at Good Samaritan Center in Fontanelle.

No services are planned. Private inurnment will be at a later date at Fontanelle Cemetery. Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston, is in charge of arrangements. Alberta Jean Vetterick Bennett, daughter of Emma C. (Leach) and Sherman H. Purdy, was born on August 26, 1925, in Fontanelle.

She graduated from Fontanelle High School in 1942.

On November, 25, 1942, Alberta married Dale Vetterick in Savannah, Mo. They had four children: Beverly, Judi, Galen and Alan.

Alberta lived in the Creston area most of her life. She worked for an insurance company, Spurgeons and JCPenney in Creston.

On July 13, 1961, Alberta married Harlan R. "Bob" Bennett in Kirksville, Mo., and moved to a farm southeast of Creston. They had one daughter, Denise Lynn.

Alberta is survived by her daughters, Judi (husband Jerry) Wahe of Albuquerque, N.M., and Denise Bertrand of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sons:, Galen Vetterick (special friend Ronda Moore) of Ames and Alan (wife Nancy) Vetterick of Gainesville, Fla.; step-sons, Phil Bennett and Gary Bennett; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale Vetterick, her husband Harlan Bennett, her daughter Beverly McCann, three sisters, one brother, two step-sisters and one step-brother.
