June Weaver, 96, of Creston died Oct. 23, 2011, at Creston Nursing and Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at First United Methodist Church, 400 N. Elm St. The Rev. Valerie Burgess will officiate. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery east of Greenfield. Open visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25. Memorials may be directed to Dollars for Scholars. Martha June Weaver, daughter of Lillian (Jones) and James R. Bennett, was born June 25, 1915, in Adams County near Mount Etna.

June graduated from Zion High School in 1933 and later took summer teaching classes in Atlantic.

June taught country school for a brief time.

On Aug. 13, 1939, June married Leonard Keith Haaf near Zion. They settled on a farm in the Hebron area.

Leonard died in 1957.

On July 1, 1967, June married Glen L. Weaver at Hill of Zion Church. They settled on Glen’s farm near Zion.

June began working for Creston Medical Clinic as a credit manager, retiring in 1973.

June was a member of First United Methodist Church in Creston, United Methodist Women, Greater Community Hospital Auxiliary, Elzevir Reading Club, Friends of the Library in Creston and Union County Historical Park.

June is survived by her husband Glen Weaver of Creston; son Paul Haaf of Overland Park, Kan.; stepdaughter, Marie (husband John) Dobias of Vancouver, Wash.; step-daughter-in-law Deb Weaver-Ripperger of Afton; grandchildren, Sally Merriman of Boston, Mass., Matt Merriman of Portland, Ore., and Chris (wife Kristen) Haaf of Philadelphia, Pa.; step-grandchildren, Tina (husband Joe) Barthlow of Salem, Ore., Tammy (husband Steve) Dixon of Vancouver, Wash., and Morgan, Cory and Kyle Weaver, all of Afton; great-grandchildren, Jesse and Leo Haaf and step-great-grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob Dixon.

In addition to her first husband, June was preceded in death by her parents; infant son Leo Chris Haaf; daughter Pauline (Haaf) Fox; daughter-in-law Marli Haaf; stepsons, Larry and Bruce Weaver; seven bothers and five sisters.
