Creston
If you were at the Creston Hy-Vee store on Thursday Aug. 25 between 12 and 1 p.m., and you had a white long cargo-type van with windows on the side, and you were parked facing west, you need to examine the passenger side of your vehicle.
Also, if someone had a newer model pickup, a lighter color parked in a space facing east, you need to examine the driver side.
I had just parked my car there and had shut the door and behind my back a grocery cart came “flying” down so fast, it hit my car on the driver side, bounced off my car still at a fast speed, and hit the white van on the passenger side, then veered over to the next row of vehicles and hit that pickup in the driver side, veered off the pickup, started down the road and a customer, a lady, then parked her vehicle, and she retrieved the cart. Only she would know if it hit any other vehicles after the pickup.
Now, why would you, the customer, load up your groceries and then turn the cart loose, as you were parked west of Hy-Vee and on an incline! What were you thinking? Did you think the cart would just sit there looking at you? You must not have any respect for anyone else’s property! That’s what the cart bins are for. If you were too tired to take the cart to a bin, then you should have not tried to load your own groceries. You know the employees at Hy-Vee always ask you, the customer, if you want help out with your groceries.
This runaway cart could of caused a lot have serious problems. I worried after the fact – what if that cart hit an elderly person? They couldn’t have moved quick enough to get out of the way. What if a mother with little children and the cart attacked a child?
I’ll bet you’re proud of yourself to be the first one to put a nice dent in my car. You were maybe seen and now how honest of a person are you? You need to come forth. I don’t need excuses about the cart. You may notify the manager at Hy-Vee or the police station.
I am very upset with you, not only for myself, but the other two vehicles, if they have damage.
A gentleman came up to me after the incident and he asked me “if I got the license number of the cart.” That was the only human for the day on this situation.
So, people, the next time get help to load your groceries, if you need it! Or, if you load your own groceries, then get some exercise and put the cart in the bin.
On a happier note, I would like to welcome the new Hy-Vee manager and his family to Creston.
Chuck Irelan is a valuable asset to the Hy-Vee corporation. Chuck came in to this store and done a complete turn around. He cleaned up the store, lowered some prices, boasted the employees’ morale 100 percent. It’s a nice place to shop now. Chuck cares about you the customer, his employees, his store. He knows how to manage a store. Chuck has a very nice personality to go with his job. It’s always nice as soon as you go in the store, your greeted and talked to. He comes from a good family and has good values. Creston should be proud of Chuck.
I know just about every employee there including the pharmacy personnel and you all are very nice and always helpful. There is now a “smile in every aisle.”
I always like to give credit where credit is due! Keep up the good work.
