LBanks Wilson, 88, of Mount Ayr died Aug. 3, 2011, at Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at the United Methodist Church in Mount Ayr. The Rev. Skip Rushing will officiate. Open visitation begins 3 p.m. Thursday with family present 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. LBanks Wilson, son of Edna (Rood) and Leo Wilson, was born Jan. 14, 1923, south of Tingley.

After his mother died when he was two, they moved to the family farm south of Clearfield.

LBanks graduated from Clearfield High School in 1940.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

On Nov. 22, 1944, LBanks married Luella Wall.

LBanks graduated from Mortuary College in St. Louis, Mo. He worked for Stewart Funeral Home in Leon for a short time.

LBanks farmed south of Clearfield and worked for Rhoades Funeral Home in Mount Ayr.

In 1971, he moved to Mount Ayr and purchased Rhoades Funeral Home, changing the name to Rhoades-Wilson Funeral Home.

In 1981, the name was changed to Wilson-Watson Funeral when, Jay Watson came in as a partner. He retired in 1992.

LBanks was a member of the Iowa Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association, American Legion Ringgold Post No. 172, Faith Lodge A.F. & A.M., Eastern Star, Lions Club and the United Methodist Church.

LBanks is survived by his wife Luella Wilson of Mount Ayr; daughters, Colleen (husband Paul) Kendle of Green Bay, Wis., and Debra (husband Lyle) Brown of Council Bluffs; grandchildren, Carrie (husband Corby) Miller of Waunakee, Wis., Adam (wife Katie) Kendle of LaCrosse, Wis., Nichole (husband Brock) Beran of Omaha, Neb., and David Brown of Omaha, Neb.; great-grandchildren Mason and Maxwell Miller and Harper Kendle; and sister-in-law Hazel (husband Jerry) Maharry of Lenox.

LBanks was preceded in death by his parents.
