Frank Dredge, 89, of Mount Ayr died July 25, 2011, at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 28, at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. The Rev. Edward Shields will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr with military rites by Ringgold Post No. 172 American Legion and the Iowa Honor Guard Unit. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Frank Dredge, son of Arzetta (Colter) and Arlen Dredge, was born Sept. 5, 1921, south of Arispe.

Frank served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Elizabeth Warrick in Grant City, Mo.

Frank was a farmer.

He was a member of Ringgold Post No. 172 American Legion in Mount Ayr.

Frank is survived by his children, Royce (wife Judy) Dredge and Anita McNutt, all of Mount Ayr; grandchildren, Eric Dredge of Mount Ayr, Becky (husband Brian) Watkins of Creston and Alicia (husband Mark) Stogdill of Grand River; great-grandchildren, Derrick (wife Kasey) Dredge of Mount Ayr, Sarah Dredge (fiance Robert Schafer) of Mount Ayr, Joshua, Austin and Brandon Jones of Creston and Hayes Stogdill of Grand River; great-great-grandchild Braydon Jones-Embree; brothers, Junior (wife Roena) Dredge of Mount Ayr and Loyd (wife Loree) Dredge of Wichita, Kan.; and sister-in-law Ruth Maudlin of Leavensworth, Kan.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters Lorena Jones, Anna Belle Knight, Marie Rains and Elva Lee Haley; and brothers Hubert and Henry Dredge.
