McCann, Theisen wed in June 13 ceremony

Kristen Marie McCann and Justin Patrick Theisen, both of Indianola, were married June 13, 2009, in a 3 p.m. ceremony at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston. The Rev. Joseph Pins performed the ceremony. Music was by organist Lynn Baker of Creston and Heidi Bird of Clarinda.

The bride is the daughter of Steve and Jane McCann of Creston. The groom is the son of Steve and Sue Theisen of Hudson.

Maid of honor was Kari McCann of Cedar Falls, sister of the bride.

Bridesmaids were Maggie McCann of Omaha, Neb., sister-in-law of the bride; Jessica White of Savage, Minn., sister of the groom; Hilaree Freml of San Antonio, Texas; Jenny Palmer of Des Moines; Krista Brown of Creston and Lacey Brakebill of Cedar Falls.

Bride’s personal attendants were Jennifer Bruce of Keokuk and Katie Boeding of Evansdale, cousins of the bride.

Best man was Jonathan Theisen of Iowa City, brother of the groom.

Groomsmen were Kyle McCann of Omaha, Neb., brother of the bride; Nic White of Savage, Minn., brother-in-law of the groom; Luke Steele of Urbandale, Ben Steele of Waukee; Brian Carolan of West Des Moines and Brad Harken of Naperville, Ill.

Ushers were Jacob Schrader of Waterloo and Ben Summerhays of Milwaukee. Wis.

Flower girls were Julia and Karaline Bruce of Keokuk, cousins of the bride, and Makenna Brown of Creston, god-daughter of the bride.

Ringbearers were Carter Boeding and Malakai Hale of Evansdale, cousins of the bride.

Candlelighters were Danielle and Gabrielle Theisen of Tewksbury, Mass., cousins of the groom.

Guest book hostesses were Laci Struble of Urbandale, cousin of the bride, and Janelle Theisen of Tewksbury, Mass., cousin of the groom.

A reception was held outside in a tent at Crestmoor Country Club in Creston.

Cake servers were Karin Freml and Mary Wichhart of Creston.

Reception hosts and hostesses were Mel and Sherry McKie, Larry and Janis Owens and Ron and Ruth Clinton, all of Creston.

Honored guests were Ruth and Bob Harrell of Creston, grandparents of the bride and Mary Theisen of Dubuque and Mildred Kadluboski of Jupiter, Fla., grandmothers of the groom.

Laci Struble of Urbandale and Janelle Theisen of Tewksbury, Mass., were in charge of gifts.

The bride wore a light gold strapless one piece, full A-line corset-back gown designed by Maggie Sottero. The neckline was accented with embellished lace motifs and the skirt had asymmetrical gathered tiers and was highlighted with stunning bead work.

Bridesmaids wore brown chiffon strapless gowns with pleated bodice and flower accentuating the waist and long soft skirt.

The bride carried a rounded bouquet of hand-tied ivory callalillies, stargazer lilies and roses. Bridesmaids carried long-stemmed ivory callallies and stargazer lilies tied with brown and gold satin ribbon.

The bride graduated from Creston High School in 2000 and the University of Northern Iowa in 2004. She is employed as a kindergarten teacher in Indianola.

The groom graduated from Hudson High School in 1999 and the University of Northern Iowa in 2003. He is employed as a high school behavior disorders teacher in Des Moines.

The couple reside in Indianola.
