Elite Murray runner racks up early wins

Leksi Gannon of Murray posted 200m wins at UNI and the ITCA Indoor Championships, setting a new meet record.

Murray’s Leksi Gannon is back full force her senior track and field season after placing first in the 200m and second in the 100m last season at the Iowa High School State Track and Field Championships.

March 5, Gannon competed at the 2024 Dickinson Relays at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls where she won the 200m dash, topping 185 fellow competitors with a career-best indoor time of :25.93. In the 60m dash, Gannon took seventh out of 187. She ran an :08.01 in the prelims and an :08.04 in the finals.

Thursday at the Iowa Track Coaches Association Indoor Championship at Iowa State University, Gannon placed first in the 200m dash (:25.98) and 60m dash (:08.01). Her 200m time set a new meet record. In the 400m dash, she earned second with a new PR of 1:04.04. Her stellar results resulted in her being named 2024 1A Most Outstanding Athlete of the Meet.
