Brittany A. Asay, 27, of Dubuque, was taken into custody 12:54 a.m. April 11 in Stuart on the charges of driving while barred and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a Stuart Police report, at approximately 11:29 p.m. April 10, officers observed a 2014 Dodge Charger southbound on South Division Street. The plate on the vehicle was ran and came back to a different color vehicle and showed the vehicles registered owner to have a barred license.

A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, identified as Asay, who was confirmed to be barred. A Stuart Police K9 was requested to complete an open air sniff. The K9 gave a positive alert to the odor of narcotics.

A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. Officers located a marijuana bong, a marijuana pipe in the form of a bracelet, a grinder, a sorting tray and pipe used to smoke wax.

Asay was transported to the Adair County Jail where she was released from after posting 10% of $1,000 bond.

Randy S. Shuey, 43, of Casey, was taken into custody 9:34 p.m. April 11 at his residence on a United States District Court warrant for indictment on the charge of prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

He was transported to the Adair County Jail and released to the custody of ATF agents.

Lucas K. Wilson, 18, and Cody R. Brunow, 19, both of Woodbine, were taken into custody 3:53 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., respectively, April 13, on Adair County warrants for the charge of participating in a riot.

According to an Adair County report, at approximately 10 p.m. Feb. 3, a riot occurred at a residence on 160th Street in Adair County. A group of at least nine individuals, including Wilson and Brunow, attacked a male at the residence while others damaged the victim’s car. The group pulled the victim out of his vehicle and assaulted him. All individuals are seen in video evidence obtained by law enforcement, assaulting the victim by punching and kicking him during the attack, while the victim begged for the attack to end.

While it would be impossible to assess specific injury to the victim caused by each individual’s actions, it is clear at least nine individuals assembled together in a violent manner to use unlawful force and violence against the victim. The victim was transported to hospital for his injuries which included lacerations, bruising and swelling to his face and complaints of arm, back and chest pain.

Wilson and Brunow were transported to the Adair County Jail where they were released from after each posted $5,000 cash or surety bond.
