3 teens injured in 1-vehicle crash in Union County

No injuries were reported Friday in a two-vehicle crash in Creston.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 6:21 p.m. a 2015 Mercedes C300, driven by Carles R. Rivera, 40, of Creston, was eastbound in the outside lane of Highway 34 when it was struck by a Isuzu box van of unknown year and model, driven by Maria Fuentes Rodriguez, 40, of Creston, as it pulled onto Highway 34 from Abell Street.

Rivera said he was going to Casey’s to get get food and did not have his turn signal on. Rodriguez said the Mercedes did have its right turn signal on, so she believed it was turning on Abell Street, causing her to enter the roadway.

Damage to the Mercedes was estimated at $1,500 and damage to the Isuzu was estimated at $500.

Three teens were injured Sunday in a one-vehicle crash in Union County.

According to a Union County report, about 2:09 p.m. a 2002 Ford Ranger, driven by Candyn L. Danielson, 15, of Creston, was southbound on Clover Avenue when Danielson attempted to slide around the turn to continue west on 170th Street. Danielson said he and his two passengers were “messing around” when he attempted the slide, which caused him to lose control of the Ranger.

Danielson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, told deputies he went into the ditch and recalls being ejected out of the side window. The vehicle came to rest in a field on the south side of 170th Street. Two passengers, Kaydon Delong and Gauge Osborne, both 15, along with Danielson, were transported by private vehicle to Greater Regional Health, for minor injuries.

Damage to the Ranger was estimated at $4,000 and damage to a fence was estimated at $500. Danielson was cited for failure to maintain control of a vehicle.
