September 1, 2010 Recently, the Boy Scouts of America celebrated their 100th Birthday. In my last column, I mentioned that Barry slapped the Boy Scouts of America in the face by declining to speak at their 100th Birthday Celebration. I commented that just when you think this man couldn’t slap America anymore, here comes a new one. President “Blame Everybody but Me” showed up in New Orleans on the five year anniversary of Katrina. August 31, 2010 Delano Junker is a storyteller, a charismatic old timer from Sioux Falls, S.D. We met June 15 at the Ringgold County Fair. When I heard that between 8,000 to 10,000 fans packed the Anderson Erickson stage to see the Vanilla Ice and Tone Loc concert during the Iowa State Fair, I knew immediately that a new era of idolizing forgotten cultural icons was upon us. |
August 9, 2010 The McKinley Park Festival kicked off at 8:30 a.m. Saturday July 31 with a kids fishing contest. More than 150 kids participated in the contest. A bike parade ensued at 1 p.m. The parade was judged and two boys and two girls received new bikes. The Bill Riley Talent Show took place at the bandshell at 2 p.m. First-place contestants advanced to perform at the Iowa State Fair.
