Reward the up stat (survival potential)

From Bill Sorden

Creston

When an individual, policy or organization betters itself – reward it! It should be encouraged to excel and become as good as it can be.

Examples: Students (and families) that have achieved the qualifications necessary to capitalize on dual credits for college and high school should not be penalized by fees (credits are their rewards). Programs that have achieved state and national recognition should not be underfunded, but capably staffed and supported. Policies of doing just what’s best for the bottom line ($) neglects the valuable final product (student).

When the down stat is rewarded – you get that! Lower individuals, policies and organizations. That’s not good enough for Creston.

Starting school on Aug. 23, or earlier, is a good idea.
I agree, it prevents school from lasting too far into June.
I disagree, it is too early, especially if it starts before the end of the Iowa State Fair.
School should be year-round
