MOUNT AYR — Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information to the vandalism at Tedrow Cemetery in Athens Township, Section 19 in Ringgold County.

According to a Ringgold County sheriff’s report, approximately 40 headstones were knocked over or broken at the cemetery between July 11 and Saturday.

Tedrow Cemetery is a pioneer cemetery, which means there must be less than 12 burials during a 50 year period.

Approximately five years ago, many of the headstones had been cleaned, repaired and restored with funds from Ringgold County Pioneer Cemetery Commission.

Damage estimates are between $20,000 to $30,000.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office at 641-464-3921.

Starting school on Aug. 23, or earlier, is a good idea.
I agree, it prevents school from lasting too far into June.
I disagree, it is too early, especially if it starts before the end of the Iowa State Fair.
School should be year-round
