Creston’s undefeated run through the Hawkeye 10 Conference softball schedule this summer resulted in several league honors announced today.

With the culmination of all teams’ seasons Wednesday as Harlan placed eighth in Class 3A, league officials released the all-conference teams as voted by the head coaches.

Creston, 28-4 overall, swept through the conference at 18-0 and placed two team members on the all-conference first team. Pitcher Madison Frain and shortstop Katlin Briley, both sophomores, earned spots on the first unit for the third straight year.

Representing Creston on the second team are catcher Carla Smith and first baseman Shelby Kramer, both juniors, and freshman center fielder Sam McDonald.

A sixth Panther, freshman right fielder Brianna Maitlen, earned honorable mention.

I agree, it prevents school from lasting too far into June.
I disagree, it is too early, especially if it starts before the end of the Iowa State Fair.
School should be year-round
