Cool breezes were the hot topic at the Wind Energy Workshop hosted at Southwestern Community College Friday afternoon.

One guest speaker, Thomas Hurd, principal architect and founder of Spatial Designs Architecture and Energy Solutions of Mason City, discussed the benefits and drawbacks to the alternative resources of wind and solar power.

“We’ll be trying to discuss the specifics of wind so people can understand,” Hurd said at the beginning of his lecture at the workshop.
