No contested races locally in primary

There will be no contested races on the ballot in the Tuesday, June 4 primary election. Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day.

Those filing for the election for county supervisor include incumbent Republican Matt Wedemeyer of Casey for District 1, incumbent Republican Jerry Walker of Bridgewater for District 3 and newcomer Republican Michael Christofferson of Greenfield for District 5, currently held by John Twombly, who isn’t seeking re-election.

Other positions on the ballot show Republican Sheriff Jeff Vandewater, Republican Auditor Mandy Berg and Republican Recorder Kelly Mitchell (to fill a vacancy) all running unopposed.

Voter pre-registration deadline for this election is 5 p.m. Monday, May 20. Pre-registered voters are required to provide an approved form of identification when going to the polls before receiving and casting a regular ballot.

Voters not pre-registered — such as voters registering to vote on election day — and voters changing precincts must also provide proof of residence. Voters unable to provide an approved form of identification or prove residence may have their identity/residence attested to by another registered voter in the precinct, prove identity and residence using election day documents or cast a provisional ballot and provide the proper documents to the Auditor’s Office by noon June 10. Election Day registrant attesters must provide an approved form of identification. Voters may request an absentee ballot from the Auditor’s Office. Voters may vote in the office between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday May 15 through June 1, or they may request a ballot be mailed to them before 5 p.m. Monday, May 20. The last day to vote absentee in the Auditor’s Office is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, June 3.
