Eric John Foland was born May 14, 1984, to Brian and Carmen (Freihage) Foland. He was joined later by a brother and sister. Eric grew up on a farm in the Murray community and graduated from Murray High School in 2002.

On May 3, 2008, he married Melinda Siddens at the Methodist Church in Creston and gained two sons and they became a family.

Eric worked for local co-ops before becoming an x-ray technician at Wellman Dynamics in 14 years and then got his CDL and spent the last year driving a dump truck. Eric’s true passions in life were hunting and demo cars.

For Eric, there were only two seasons: deer season or derby season. He had his prize 10-point buck on display in his home as well as his numerous demo derby trophies and awards. Some of his best friends have been his derby buddies and he loved spending time and working on cars with them.

Family meant a lot to Eric and he would tell you that raising two boys wasn’t an easy job, but he was up for the challenge. He also enjoyed seeing and spending time with his niece and nephews and the rest of his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Melinda; sons Trevor Henry and Daniel Giles; parents Brian and Carmen Foland; brother Bruce Foland; sister Dawn (Jimmy) Petrik, niece Rylee and nephews: Owen, Mason and Reece; grandmother Reta Freihage; mother-in-law Diane Siddens and a host of aunts, uncles cousins, extended family and many great friends.

Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bob and Baunadine Foland and Larry Freihage; brother Robert Keith Foland, uncles Rodney and Myron Foland and his father-in-law David Siddens.
