Darlene Cottrell, 88, of Creston passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, at EveryStep Greater Regional Hospice House in Creston. Celebration of life graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Pastor Mary O’Riley will officiate the service. Open visitation with family receiving friends will be 1 to 2 p.m. Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation. Online condolences can be given at www.powersfh.com.

Eleanor Darlene (Boham) Cottrell was born Feb. 20, 1932, in Creston to Bertha Fern (Roach) Boham and Thomas Ford Boham.

Darlene married Raymond Leonard Cottrell Dec. 21, 1948, in Osceola. They lived their entire married life in Creston.

Darlene worked at the Creston hospital in housekeeping for 32 years until her retirement.
Following her retirement, Darlene worked part-time at Trolli gummy bear factory and Hardees.

Survivors include her children: Jack Cottrell of Ames, Bob (Jan) Cottrell of Creston, Tom (Sharon) Cottrell of Creston, Kathy (Jim) Portwood of Creston, Peggy Miller of Creston and Tabitha Cottrell (Luke Parks) of Murray.

She will be remembered as “Grandma Grape” to her 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her step-brother Michael Weaver along with several nieces and nephews.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Alta Boham, husband Raymond in 2012, daughter Pam (Cottrell) Conley in 2014, grandson Robert Thomas Cottrell, siblings: Katherine (in infancy), Marvin Boham, Joyce O’Neall, Dena Lamb and Lois Kibbe.
