Police

William Powell, 62, 104 S. Broadway St., was charged with public intoxication 4:22 p.m. Friday on the 600 block of Wyoming Street.

According to a Creston Police report, Powell had slurred speech, bloodshot watery eyes and an odor of alcohol coming from his breath. Powell said he was walking home to Diagonal from the bar and had been drinking. Officers observed Powell lose balance and almost fall over and took a bottle of rum from Powell that was nearly empty.

Powell was being held in the Union County Jail on $300 bond.

Jennifer Beard, 39, 612 W. Mills St., was charged on a Union County Warrant for the original charge of violation of a protection order 1:37 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of West Montgomery and North Sycamore streets.

According to a Creston Police report, Beard sent text messages to a male victim whom she has an active protection order with.

Beard was being held in the Union County Jail on $300 bond.

Alexander Smith, 18, 500 N. Bureau St., was charged with possession of paraphernalia 3:15 a.m. Sunday on the 300 block of East Clark Street.

According to a Creston Police report, Smith was in a parked vehicle loitering in a parking lot after hours. K-9 Jax was deployed and was alerted by the driver’s side door. Upon further investigation, Smith was found to be in possession of a marijuana grinder containing the substance.

Smith was being held in the Union County Jail on $300 bond.

Elizabeth Green, 1440 170th St., reported a theft 10:36 a.m. Sunday at 623 New York Avenue.

According to a Creston Police report, someone had taken a trailer from 623 New York Avenue within the last week.

Estimated loss was $1,500.

Heather McNichols, 1202 N. Cherry St., reported a theft 4:55 p.m. Sunday at 515 Livingston Avenue.

According to a Creston Police report, someone had entered McNichols’ storage unit on Livingston and took household items, furniture, clothing and kitchen items sometime Sunday.

Estimated loss was $1,100.
