Bowling teams look for improvement

The Nodaway Valley bowling teams look to improve on last season’s record and will have some all-conference picks back to lead the way.

Girls

The Wolverines finished 13-12 overall last season and will be led this year by first team all-conference selection Abby Christensen and second team pick Morgan Brown.

Christensen totaled 3,365 pins a year ago. She had a game average of 153 and a series average of 305.9. She had a high game of 202 and a high series of 357 a season ago. Christensen rolled a 314 at district qualifying.

Brown finished with 2,725 total pins a year ago. She averaged 104.8 a game and had a series average of 209.6. She had a high game of 147 last season and a high series of 272.

Brenna Bruns returns after taking last season off. Caydence Schwartz and Riley McCall are newcomers to the team this season.

Boys

The Nodaway Valley boys finished 16-15 a year ago and will have the services of a pair of second team all-conference picks in Hunter Ellis and Matthew Mangles back to lead the way.

Ellis rolled a total of 3,085 pins a year ago. He carried a game average of 118.7 and a series average of 237.3. He had a high game of 201 and a high series of 359 a year ago.

Mangels finished with 2,985 total pins. Mangels carried a game average of 124.4 and a series average of 248.8 last season. He had a high game of 174 and a high series of 288 a year ago.

Trent McIntosh rolled a total pin count of 939 a year ago. He had a game average of 93.9 and a series average of 187.8. He had a high game of 122 and a high series of 219.

John Clarke rolled a pin count of 560. His game average was 93.3 and series average of 186.7. He had a high game of 112 and a high series of 204.

Alex Mason rolled a pin count of 441 last season. His game average was 73.5 and series average of 147.0. He had a high game of 90 and a high series of 156.

Newcomers this season are Collin Wensted and Marshall Greene.
