Ten years ago when searching for a desired southwest Iowa community in which to retire to, we were positively influence by then Creston Mayor Warren Woods and realtor Ken Callahan. Moreover we had the distinct pleasure of being very pleasantly persuaded by Jim Stalker.
During a cool evening sojourn viewing the passing trains at the Depot we had the chance opportunity of meeting Jim and Sandy Stalker. This casual encounter developed into a quiet serious conversation regarding the fine community of Creston. Jim Stalker clearly, concisely and confidently regaled us with his unique insightful perception of the vast potential of Creston and of what it had to offer. That conversation truly helped to make our decision.
Throughout these past years, long time resident, bookseller and quiet activist Jim Stalker has proven to be Creston’s remarkable succinct but undervalued sage. His grasp of the pertinent issues of the community have been evident in his letters of substance and point to the editor in this newspaper. Never engaging in spite or animosity but always with the intent to inform uplift and enlighten the community.
His many friends (we among them) and community neighbors have long recognized these virtues and talents and that those would be truly reflected in service to our community as mayor of Creston.
Please do not forget to vote this November— it does make a difference.
