Area volleyball roundup: Ranked Southwest Valley loses in Missouri, Lenox takes second win in a row

East Union 3, Cent. Decatur 0

LEON – East Union cruised past Central Decatur Tuesday night.

The Eagles pulled away in each set to win 25-21, 27-25 and 25-18.

Alyssa Weinkoetz was 14-for-15 at the service line, posting five aces.

Weinkoetz also led the team in kills, converting on 21 of 24 attack attempts for 14 kills.

Grace Nixon had the high in solo blocks with two. Weinkoetz had one of her own also.

Jaylen Welcher led in digs with 17. Elizabeth Hardy was busy with the feed all night, leading the Eagles in assists with 27.

Lenox 3, Bedford 0

BEDFORD – Lenox picked up its second consecutive win Tuesday night, taking three sets from Bedford.

The Tigers won 25-19, 28-16 and 15-16 en route to the win.

TJ Stoaks posted 14 kills and four blocks. Kayla Yzaguirre had 28 digs.

Complete stats for Lenox was unavailable at press time.

Maryville R-II 3, Southwest Valley 2

MARYVILLE, Mo. – Class 1A No. 10 Southwest Valley fell in five sets Tuesday night, losing to Maryville R-II 3-2.

The Timberwolves dropped the opening set 25-14 before bouncing back and taking set two 25-17. Maryville R-II took the third set and SWV took the fourth 25-10 to force a deciding fifth game.

The Timberwolves couldn’t hang on, falling 15-11.

Jentry Schafer had 13 kills on 34 attack attempts. Kayley Myers had eight kills.

Isabelle Inman was the leader with 23 assists. She also had three blocks (two assisted, one solo). Schafer posted the high in blocks with four solo and one assisted.

Delaney Dalton was perfect from the service stripe, going 22-for-22. She had one ace.

Twin Cedars 3, Diagonal 0

BUSSEY – Diagonal dropped its first match of the season Monday night, losing to Twin Cedars 3-0.

Diagonal was outmatched across the board, losing 25-4, 25-18 and 25-19.

Anna Newton had the high in kills with five.

Taylor Lumbard, Erin Sobotka and Kayla Bentley each had three digs.

Sobotka also posted the high in assists with seven.
