Beau Marley

Beau Marley, 37, of Waukee; formerly of Creston, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2019, in Tama County, Iowa. A private family celebration of life memorial service was held Sept. 1, at the Cromwell United Church of Christ Congregational in Cromwell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to family to be decided later. Online condolences can be given at

Beau Michael Marley, son of Steven L. Marley and Linda R. (Blazek) Marley, was born on April 3, 1982, in Creston. He graduated from Creston High School in 2000. He went on to earn an Associate Degree at the American Institute of Business in Des Moines and continued at Vatterott College in Des Moines. Beau began working part time at Rhiner’s Plumbing in Clive in the fall of 2000. After he finished his schooling, he worked full time with Rhiner’s Plumbing, eventually working as their treasurer, controller and having partnership in the company.

Beau met Maggie Rooney in 2016; they have been life partners since, making their home in Waukee. Beau was a member of the Harley Owners Group.

As a kid, Beau would dismantle transformers, so he could figure out how they worked. He went on to build computers, and then customize his motorcycles, by other parts and upgrades. In recent years, he researched how to remodel various home projects, like flooring and many others. Over the years, Beau enjoyed creating with LEGO, motorcycle riding with his Dad, playing games with family, hiking and kayaking, nature walks with Maggie, teasing his family and making them laugh.

Beau took a liking to Skittles, Starbursts, peanut butter cups, dark chocolate and in later years, Coors Light. He really loved his Grandma Pat’s macaroni and cheese and Grandpa Bob’s Black raspberry jelly. Beau enjoyed playing cards with grandma and grandpa Blazek while probably cheating.

Beau worked for years at Dairy Queen as a teenager, saving up money for roller blades, video games and computer, always having to save twice as much, so he’d force himself to always save.

Survivors include his life partner, Maggie Rooney of Waukee; his parents, Steve and Linda Marley of Creston; his sister, Bobbi (Nick) Martin of Liberty, Missouri; three nephews: Carter, Corbin and Canon Martin; niece Cambree Martin; grandmothers Pat Marley of Creston and Beth Blazek of Osceola and and his dog, Cooper.

Beau was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Cliff Blazek and Robert Marley.
