Gaylord “Fred” Henriksen, 82, of Afton, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019, at the EveryStep Greater Regional Hospice House in Creston. A memorial reception will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at Powers Funeral Home, 612 N. Dodge St. in Afton, with family present 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Burial will be held at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. Online condolences can be given at www.powersfh.com.
Gaylord John Henriksen, son of John Gilbert and Laura Herminna (Christensen) Henriksen, was born on March 4, 1937, in Audubon County. Fred was in the Army National Guard for over 8 years.
On Jan. 17, 1960, Fred married Mary Lois Drinovsky in Traer. Fred was a life long farmer and his current home is north of Afton.
Fred was a member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church, and the Elks.
Fred is survived by his wife Mary; brother Lyle (Evelyn) Henriksen of Corning; sisters: Lois (Cliff) Olsen, Creston and Donna Stone, Kent, Washinton; along with many great-nieces and great-nephews and a host of friends.
Gaylord “Fred” Henriksen was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, William and Albina Drinovsky; brother, Virgil Henriksen; brother-in-law, Willis Stone; nephew, Alan Henriksen; and great-great nephew, Wyatt James Wilson.
