Athlete of the Week: Summer Week Seven

The seventh and final summer sports South Central Iowa Athlete of the Week polls have been conducted with two winners. (July 8 – July 13).

Polls were conducted on the Twitter profile of CNA/OST/FO/ACFP sports reporter Tyler Hetu (TheTylerHetu) and on esurveypro.com. Final percentages are determined by the total votes in both polls.

Baseball – Mason Cassady – Senior – Interstate 35

In three games: Went 4-of-11 at the plate with four runs, a double, two RBIs, four stolen bases and two walks drawn. On the mound Cassady threw four innings with three strikeouts without allowing a run.

Softball – Caroline McAlexander – Senior – Mount Ayr

In two games: Threw 14 innings, picking up two wins to go along with 17 strikeouts and one earned run for a 0.64 ERA. While at the plate she was 1-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base.
