Flood plain ordinance passed

The Union County Board of Supervisors held a public forum for the third reading of Ordinance No. 39A at its regular meeting Monday at the Union County Courthouse.

Residents Ray McNaught, Dennis Richie and Steve Chamberlain voiced their concerns about the ordinance.

The supervisors shared a memo by Union County Attorney Tim Kenyon creating a new subsection of the ordinance exempting fences and other structures that enclose and restrict the movement of livestock across any type of water gap as “specialized nonconforming” uses that can be repaired or replaced as long as they do not restrict water flow.

The board approved the modified ordinance.

The Union County Board of Supervisors meets weekly, 9 a.m. Monday inside the Union County Courthouse, 300 N. Pine St.
