Jack Harman, 82, of Afton died Friday, June 21, 2019, at his home in Afton.

Celebration of life memorial visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at Lakeshore Golf and Country Club in Afton. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois, at a later date. Memorials may be left to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Jack J. Harman, son of John (Jack) and Lucille (Cox) Harman, was born July 17, 1936, in Springfield, Illinois. He graduated from Springfield High School with the class of 1954.

On Oct. 5, 1954, Jack married Judith Jane Stowers in Palmyra, Missouri. Together, they made their home in Springfield, Illinois. Jack worked for his father at Jack Harman’s Standard Service, which he later owned and operated. In 1977, Jack moved the family to Iowa with Bunn-O-Matic Corporation. Jack built their log home in rural Thayer, where he raised horses. In 1994, Jack and Judy moved the family to Afton, and in 1998, they built their current home overlooking the Lakeshore Golf Course. Jack retired as a retail production manager after 20 years at Bunn.

Jack was a member of the Elliott Avenue Baptist Church in Springfield, Illinois, and Arrowhead Appaloosa Association, and an active member, and formerly on the board, at Lakeshore Golf and Country Club in Afton.

Jack is survived by his wife Judy Harman of Afton; sons, Dennis (Donna) Harman of Weaverville, California, and Rick (Gloria) Harman of Afton; granddaughters, Ashley (Ryan) Lynch of West Des Moines, Erin (R.J.) Walsh of Winterset and Morgan Harman of Los Angeles, California; grandson Anthony Calhoun of Valencia, California; great-grandchildren, Griffin and Sutton Lynch; sister Linda (Chuck) Trowbridge of Indianapolis, Indiana; brothers-in-law, Don (Judi) Stowers of Chatham, Illinois, and Jerre Stowers of Divernon, Illinois; sister-in-law Sandra Stowers of Normal, Illinois; along with other relatives and a host of friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Les and Marge Stowers; sister Judith (John) Evangelista; brother-in-law Ronald Stowers; sister-in-law Nancy Jo Schumacher and dog Boots.
