Kiwanis

The weekly Kiwanis meeting was held 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at Pizza Ranch meeting room with 21 members and one guest. President Terry Freeman presided, Randy Ringsdorf gave the prayer and Ed Ritter was the finemaster.

Kiwanis will provide the Open Table meal Tuesday, June 25, at United Church of Christ, and members were asked to help from 4:30 to 6:30 that day.

The club is helping once again with putting up and taking down of the flags at the Fourth of July. The club also helps with organizing the parade set up and judging. Ellen Gerharz passed around the sign up sheet for those activities at the meeting. Creston Kiwanis will also have a banner in the parade.

Club members now have the tickets for the Big BBQ Bash 4 to 7 p.m. July 6, for a burger, brat, hot dog or tenderloin with chips and water for $6 and held at the caboose in Uptown Creston. The BBQ is the same time as KSIB Cruise Night. It is a joint fundraiser for Kiwanis, Lions and Rotary during the town’s 150th year celebration. If a business would like to buy a book of 10 tickets for $60, they will be listed as a sponsor of the event. Contact any Kiwanis member to buy your tickets or book of tickets for this great fundraiser.

The program was given by Dr. Todd Daily, community representative for Care Initiative. He provided details on the health programs, information and education that Care Initiatives does for the public to inform families about different types of hospice care and end of life support options and needs. They also have programs for advanced directives and dementia education. — — — — — —
