Hymbaugh Construction awarded remodel of DHS building

During its regular meeting this morning, the Union County Board of Supervisors approved a bid from Jim Hymbaugh of Creston, who submitted the only complete bid for remodeling the new Department of Human Services Building at 201 N. Elm St.

Hymbaugh Construction submitted a bid for $266,800 with a cost of $250 per light for the 44 florescent lights requested.

TBB&M Design Build of Indianola submitted a bid which did not include the cubicles and desks on the drawings of the bid specifications.

Jerry Purdy, of Farnsworth Group, the architectural firm retained by the board to oversee the bid process, stated the board could accept the “lowest responsive, responsible bid” or reopen the bidding. Purdy recommended the board accept the complete bid before them.

Ron Riley moved to accept the bid from Hymbaugh Construction. Rick Friday seconded the motion, and the motion passed unanimously.
