The Cancer Support Ministry of Crest Baptist Church had a benefit luncheon Sunday, May 5.
I thought by being there about noon, I could beat the crowd and my food would be hot and fresh. What a surprise I got! The main dining room was completely full – they had to seat people in another room set up with tables and chairs.
There was a group playing music, people to assist you, to help carry your food and keep your table cleared of used dishes.
The food was fresh and hot at all times ... salads and desserts of all kinds. (Wish I’d hit the dessert bar first.)
The fried chicken was delicious. I brought some home for my friend. He ate it all and asked if they had it catered in – it was that good. I assured him I saw them cooking it.
This group does many things for cancer survivors – approximately 77 now. They have been with me on my journey for more than five years. I thank God for them and everything they do.
Please watch for the next benefit – go and enjoy good food and good company.
