A golden evening for middle school girls

The Nodaway Valley girls won nine events, en route to the POI West Conference track and field championship, April 25 at SW Valley.

“What can I say,” said an excited Gary Thompson. “What an exclamation point on what has been an amazing season. So many kids stepping up and doing their best and believing in each other and the coaches plan going into the meet. I an truly blessed to get to coach these kids.”

Abby Engles led the parade of champions with three top finishes in the sprint events. Engles also set a new school record in the 400m dash.

Sixth place- Long jump- Long; 4x100m (Kaylee Harper, Lillian Dahl, Macey Dabb, Eleni Jameson); 4x200m (Jameson, Emma Perkey, Bella Hogan, Jorja Holiday).

Relays top boys’ effort

A pair of relays carried the NV boys to a third place finish in the POI meet at SW Valley.

The shuttle hurdle and the 4x800m relay teams claimed top honors for the NV boys.
