CARLISLE – Competing against plenty of high quality competition Tuesday night, Creston boys track and field saw a number of season bests in Carlisle.
In the sprint medley the foursome of Hank Looney, Chris Wells, Erick Rodriguez and Cael Kralik put together a season best time of 1:46.37, finishing 10th.
Rodriguez put together a 200 meter leg of 23.80 while Kralik’s 400 was clocked at 55.66, according to Creston head coach Pat Schlapia.
Kralik set a new season best in the high jump after clearing 5 feet, 6 inches to take 10th as well.
In the open 400, Kralik ran just a tad slower than his leg in the sprint medley as he took 12th in 57.12, a season best.
“This was a meet that involved just as much mental as well as physical to it,” said Schlapia. “We need to be ready to step up to that level. We get that with continued experience with this.”
In the long jump, Rodriguez had consistently stuck results in the 18-foot range and that’s what he did Tuesday with a leap of 18 feet, 3 inches.
Two other Panther relays had season best times in the 4x200 and the 4x400.
Looney, Wells, Ethan Freeman and Kralik completed the 4x200 in 1:48.65 with Wells running the quickest leg in 26.38.
In the 4x4, Kralik sprinted through another 400 to lead off the race as the Panthers finished 11th in 3:58.84.
The Panthers finished the meet as a team in 13th out of a 15 team field while Indianola won the team portion of the meet with 132 points.
UP NEXT – Creston will head to Red Oak Friday to compete in the Tiger Relays.
