Athlete of the Week: Spring Week Two

The second spring sports South Central Iowa Athlete of the Week polls have been conducted with four winners. (April 8 - April 13).

Polls were conducted on the Twitter profile of CNA/OST/FO/ACFP sports editor Carter Eckl (@CarterEckl) and on esurveypro.com. Final percentages are determined by the total votes in both polls.

Boys track and field – Hunter Poston – Senior – Southwest Valley

In Shenandoah meet, Poston won the discus with a throw of 127 feet and took second in the shot put with a toss of 43 feet, 11 inches.

Girls track and field – Gabby Valencia – Sophomore (?) – East Union

In home meet, Valencia finished second in the 3,000 meter run and fourth in the 1,500.

Soccer – Hunter Fry – Junior – Creston

In 3-2 win at Underwood Fry scored game-winning goal in extra time.

Tennis – Heylee Shields – Junior – Creston/O-M

In win over Southwest Valley, Shields won at No. 3 singles 8-2 and No. 2 doubles 8-1.

Golf – Myles Greene – Senior – Mount Ayr

In Wayne meet Greene took medalist honors after shooting a four-over 39.
