Chelsi Silva, of Creston reported that some time between February 2 and March 6, a 1906 Winchester .22 caliber rifle was taken from her residence.

Estimated value is $700.

No citations were issued after an accident 8:30 a.m. April 3 at US 169/Douglas Street and Kansas Street in Afton.

According to a Union County Sheriff’s report, Larry Alvin Swanson, 75, of Afton was stopped at an intersection in a 1997 Chevrolet and noticed that a semitractor-trailer was attempting to turn off of Highway 169. Swanson backed up to give the semitractor-trailor more room and struck a 2015 Chevrolet driven by Patricia Ann Nixon, 69, of Afton.

Estimated damages to Nixon’s vehicle was $1,450.

Brady Kevin Reese, 16, of Lorimor was cited with following too closely 4:52 p.m. April 5 at Filmore and Browning streets in Afton.

According to a Union County Sheriff’s report, Dylan Scott Cook, 18, of Thayer, driving a 2003 Chevrolet, was attempting to turn south onto Browning Street. Gaven Carter Tomas, 15, of Shannon City, driving a 1994 Chevrolet, slowed down. Reese, driving a 2003 Dodge was travelling too fast and following too closely to stop in time. Reese’s vehicle struck Tomas’ vehicle causing Tomas’ vehicle to strike Cook’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported. Estimated damages were $500 to Cook’s vehicle, $4,000 to Tomas’ vehicle and $4,000 to Reese’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 10:10 a.m. Tuesday at REA Road and Prairie Dog Avenue in Union County.

According to a Union County Sheriff’s report, Jason James Hayes, 45, of Creston was driving a Caterpillar grading Prairie Dog Avenue when he attempted to turn around at the intersection with REA Road. Hayes did not see Kevin Eugene Kelley’s 1997 Pontiac at the stop sign and backed into Kelley’s vehicle.

Estimated damages were $2,000 to Kelley’s vehicle.
