From Tim Haynie
Due to the horrific winter we’ve just had, the streets have taken a major hit. We had record breaking snowfall for January and February with arctic cold temps. Our city crew worked hard last year, repairing, resurfacing and maintaining our streets, only to have the elements cause an incredible amount of damage over the winter.
| have lived in many towns in my lifetime before moving to Creston in 1987. I’ve never seen a crew work as hard and long as ours has this winter and in extremely harsh conditions. Not once have I not been able to drive around in town.
Now that the bitter winter is behind us, the crew will be preparing to begin another summer of repairs and improvements as soon as the temps allow it. I don’t know what their pay is, but they earn every cent of if. It’s not a job I would want.
A big warm thanks to everyone on the city street crew!
