Clare Frizell, 91, of Greenfield died Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Greenfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Visitation with family present was from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Steen Funeral Home, 101 SE Fourth St., in Greenfield. Private family graveside services will be at a later date. Clare Irwin Frizell, son of Elmer E. and Gladys M. (Gile) Frizell, was born Feb. 12, 1928, on the family farm in Adair County. Clare was raised in Adair County and graduated from Greenfield High School. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War in the 13th Engineers Construction. He attended GI Ag Business in Orient after returning home from the service.
On Oct. 30, 1955, he married Pearl LaPorte in Union County. They farmed in Adair County.
Clare is survived by his wife Pearl Frizell of Greenfield; sons, James (Helena) Frizell of Indianola, Robert (Brenda) Frizell of Des Moines and William Frizell of Olathe, Kansas; daughters, Nancy Frizell of Raymore, Missouri, and Sherry Frizell of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Clyde Frizell of Greenfield and Larry Frizell of Strong City, Kansas; sister Mary McInroy of Iowa City; sister-in-law Isolde Frizell of Greenfield; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ivan and Keith Frizell.
