Donna Dobberthein

Donna Dobberthein, 77, of Thayer died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Celebration of life graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at Murray Cemetery in Murray. The Rev. Mary O’Riley will officiate. Burial will be in Murray Cemetery. Memorials are to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Donna Marie Dobberthein, daughter of Golda Marie (Ferguson) Charter and Robert Roy Charter, was born June 3, 1941, in Twin Falls, Idaho. Donna attended Boise Community Schools in Boise, Idaho.

In 1966, Donna married Norman Ralph Main in Boise, Idaho. They settled in Boise, Idaho, where she worked as a homemaker. They later moved to Grand River. They later divorced. Donna worked as a part assembler for Furnace Electric in Osceola for 10 years, retiring in 1998.

On May 23, 1998, Donna married John Henry “Jack” Dobberthein in Thayer. They settled in Thayer.

In her retirement, Donna served as a part of Thayer City Council. She was a member of Lakeshore Golf and Country Club in Afton.

Donna is survived by her daughters, Tena (Duane) Smith of Woodburn, Teresa Main of Osceola and Terry Main of Grand River; brother John (Brenda) Charter of Dorris, California; grandchildren, Wylee, Lilly and Layla Wright, Christian Vairo, Dustin Jessip and Hilary and Holly Smith; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, husband John “Jack” Dobberthein in 2017 and stepdaughter Jackie Sue Monroe in 2015.
