Diagonal 44, Ankeny Christian Academy 41

LAMONI – Diagonal won 44-41 over Ankeny Christian Academy on Monday, as Lamoni played host for the Diagonal girls’ fourth straight win on Monday in the Bluegrass Conference Tournament.

Diagonal trailed by one after the first quarter but outscored Ankeny Christian by 11 in the second quarter to pull ahead 28-18 going into halftime.

Ankeny Christian rallied back in the third quarter, outscoring the Maroonettes 13-3 to even the score at 31-31.

Diagonal squeezed by in the final frame, pulling away enough to win 44-41.

Diagonal was led in scoring by Emily Newton with 18 points. She also led in rebounds with eight.

Diagonal meets Lamoni at 7:30 on Thursday in Diagonal for the next matchup in the Bluegrass Conference Tournament.

Twin Cedars 46, Orient-Macksburg 39

ORIENT – Orient-Macksburg couldn’t get back in the win column on Thursday, falling to Twin Cedars 46-39.

Twin Cedars grabbed the lead in the first quarter and didn’t waver, matching or outscoring O-M throughout all four quarters.

The Bulldogs were led in scoring by Hailey Johnson with 16 points. Kaela Eslinger scored 13, grabbing 10 offensive rebounds in the loss.

Eslinger’s rebound total hit 15, a team high.

Ankeny Christian Academy 55, Orient-Macksburg 30

ORIENT – The O-M girls fell to Ankeny Christian Academy on Saturday 55-30 in the Bluegrass Conference Tournament.

Down 24-12 at halftime, the Bulldogs struggled to gain ground getting outscored 22-3 in the third quarter.

The fourth quarter showed signs of late life for O-M, as it rallied to outscore Ankeny Christian 15-8 in the final frame.

O-M was led in scoring by Johnson with 18 points. She grabbed four steals, another team high.

Murray 46, Moulton-Udell 34

MOULTON – Murray found the win column on Monday, winning over Moulton-Udell 46-34 in the Bluegrass Conference Tournament.

A 12-2 second quarter in favor of the Mustangs gave Murray a comfortable 25-13 lead going into halftime, helping them not look back on their way to their 10th win of the season.

Murray was led in scoring by Bre Klein with 23 points.

Ally Waske grabbed a team high eight rebounds, scoring 10 points.

Murray next faces Seymour in on Thursday at 6:00 in Diagonal for the next matchup in the Bluegrass Conference Tournament.

Southwest Valley 71, ACGC 65

GUTHRIE CENTER – Southwest Valley stats were unavailable at time of press.

Central Decatur 68, Nodaway Valley 43

LEON – Nodaway Valley’s scoring touch came too late on Thursday, falling behind early to Central Decatur in their 68-43 loss.

The Cardinal girls had a 33-16 lead at halftime, enough to hold the Wolverines down and out for the remainder of the game.

The Nodaway Valley girls were led in scoring by Maddax DeVault with 12 points.

Panorama 68, Nodaway Valley 42

PANORA – The Wolverine girls dropped their third straight on Monday, falling to Panorama 68-42.

Martensdale-St Marys 55, Mount Ayr 53

MARTENSDALE – Mount Ayr lost a hard fought game to Martensdale-St Marys, falling 55-53 on Thursday.

Despite the close score, Mount Ayr girls coach That Streit was dissapointed in his teams rebounding.

“They got a ton of offensive boards,” said Streit. “They are a good team, but we beat ourselves tonight. We didn’t rebound and we had some silly turnovers.”

The Raiderettes were led in scoring by Rachael Sobotka with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Keirston Klommhaus scored 12 points, assisting three for Mount Ayr. Channler Henle and Sam Stewart both scored 10 points for the Raiderettes also.

Earlham 47, Lenox 37

LENOX – A 12-2 first quarter ended up hurting Lenox in the end, faling to Earlham 47-37 on Thursday.

The Tigers outscored Earlham in the middle quarters but couldn’t gain enough ground, running out of steam in the fourth quarter.

TJ Stoaks led the Tigers in scoring with 10 points. Stoaks also grabbed 11 rebounds and three steals, both team highs.

Lenox 38, Southeast Warren 25

LIBERTY CENTER – Lenox pulled ahead early and put Southeast Warren away in the fourth quarter on Monday, winning 38-25.

The win is their first since Dec. 20, bringing the Tigers to 6-9 overall.

Stoaks led the Tigers in scoring with 11 points. She in assists with four and in steals with three.

Jordan England grabbed a team high 13 rebounds, scoring nine points.
