Michael Olszewski

Michael Olszewski, 72, of Mount Ayr died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.

A celebration of life will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., in Mount Ayr with the Rev. Mike Maddy officiating. A flag presentation will be conducted by Iowa Army Honor Guard unit. Open visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with family present from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials are to EveryStep Hospice in Mount Ayr. Mike, son of Bernard and Anna (O’Neal) Olszewski, was born Sept. 19, 1946, in Illinois. He graduated from high school and served his country in the U.S. Army.

On Dec. 7, 1996, Mike married Phyllis Saville in Grant City, Missouri. He worked several years at Trolley Industries (Gummy Bears) in Creston as a warehouse manager. He had most recently worked at Pursuit of Independence in Lenox.

Mike is survived by his wife Phyllis Olszewski of Mount Ayr; children, Kevin (Lesslie) Olszewski of Davenport, Mikey Olszewski of Texas, Jim Olszewski of Iowa, Heather Olszewski of Iowa, Sandi (Kenny) Heimann of Moline, Illinois, Chris (Bobbie) Novak of Galt, Missouri, and Tara (Jason) Lynch of Gordon, Nebraska; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emma, Ella, Gabe, Jack Novak of Galt, Missouri, and Paige and P.J. Lynch of Gordon, Nebraska; and sister Helen Biddy of Texas.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and brother Earl Olszewski.
