CHI Senior Life Solutions program welcomes new program therapist

CORNING – CHI Health Mercy Corning is pleased to welcome Grace Lyne Brotherton, MSCC, LMHC, LIMHP as the new program therapist at the Senior Life Solutions program.

Senior Life Solutions, an intensive outpatient group therapy program, is designed to meet the unique needs of older adults over the age of 65 struggling with depression and anxiety often related to aging. As program therapist, Brotherton will be responsible for providing therapeutic services for patients utilizing group, individual and family therapy sessions to older adults. She will work within a small, interdisciplinary team with a focus on quality patient care and provision of services ordered by a physician.

Brotherton received her AA in business administration, with a minor in psychology from Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs. She went on to receive her BS in criminal justice from Kaplan University online and her MS in clinical counseling from Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska.

“Having worked with many different populations in the social service arena, I have found that the elderly or senior population is one of intrigue, true learning and genuine fellowship,” Brotherton said. “It is exciting to see someone really understand what depression or anxiety is and have a better idea of how they can make the changes in their life to feel better and really enjoy this chapter of their life. This absolutely does happen with the senior population despite the stigma the population has, that mental health is ‘just something you deal with.’”

“Senior Life Solutions provides seniors in rural areas access to a service that they may not have had otherwise,” Brotherton said. “How exciting is that? The team that I work with is knowledgeable about our rural area and genuinely wants to see those who could benefit from mental health services receive those services and so do I.”

Family members, physicians or other health professionals can refer individuals to the program. For information on CHI Health Mercy Corning's Senior Life Solutions program, call 641-322-6360 or visit www.chihealth.com.
