The Union County Board of Supervisors accepted budget requests and continued its wind ordinance discussion during its regularly scheduled meeting Monday.
The compensation board, mandated by state law, met to recommend next years salaries for the elected officials. The compensation board recommended a 4 percent increase in salary for elected officials.
Budget requests were accepted for Union County Fair Association, Connections Area Agency on Aging, Union County Historical Society, Emergency Management and the Department of Human Services (DHS).
Supervisor Dennis Brown said the board then reviews budget requests from various departments annually over a two to four week period of time, in which they also fine tune the details based on the revenue for the county.
The DHS move to 201 N. Elm St. is expected to happen within the next 6 months.
The board then heard from Doug Jones, a representative from the Union County Conservation Board. Jones asked on behalf of the conservation board how wind farms might effect the county parks and be considered within the potential wind energy ordinance.
The board also spoke with Zach Gunsolley, Union County engineer, about requesting to monitor the roads during construction activity relating to wind turbines.
No decisions were made on the wind ordinance topics.
The Union County Board of Supervisors meetings are open to the public and begin with a public open forum at 9 a.m. Mondays at the Union County Courthouse located at 300 N. Pine St.
